The Duke's Armor Finished in March

Duke Maddog

Well-known member
Hello everyone!

After a couple weeks of busy work in the Hobby Room, I was finally able to get all these vehicle models finished. Here they are in no particular order...

First is the US Army receiving the Trumpeter 1/72 scale M-1117 Guardian armored car:

Just for fun, here's a shot of the Guardian next to the vehicle it was built to replace:

Next are all my latest Japanese Ground Self Defense Forces vehicles that my Japanese Army is taking delivery of.

First is the three Half Ton Trucks that came in one Fujimi box with instructions on how to make three different versions. Here are the three versions:

Half- Ton Truck Cargo (all back seats folded to hold cargo):

Half-Ton Truck Liaison (rearmost seats folded, back seats down for VIPs):

Half-Ton Truck Light Scout/Communications (All seats down for crew; radios mounted in back, covered to protect radios):

Next are a couple Light Armored Vehicles that I've always wanted since I saw the 1/35th scale ones. Now I have two of them in 1/72 scale in one Fujimi box:

First is the battlefield liaison LAV:

Next is the Forward Scout/Communications LAV:

Another Fujimi model with two vehicles in the box. This is the Type 87 Self Propelled Anti-aircraft gun system. I was able to make an early type and a late type. they are mostly differentiated by the style of smoke dischargers on the turret.

Type 87 Early:

Type 87 Late:

I know the guns look misaligned in some of those pics. I double and triple checked them, it's an optical illusion caused by the angle of some of the camera shots.

Finally, my last finished models so far. Also from Fujimi, and also two kits per box. These are the Type 99 155mm Self Propelled Guns. I made one an operational vehicle and the other a training vehicle for training new crews. Otherwise there was no other real differentiation between them aside from some details on the turret roof.

First the Type 99 Operational gun:

And finally the Type 99 155mm training gun, which is fully capable of combat:

And that completes the list of models I finished now. With all the self quarantining I'll be doing, I foresee another large number of finished models next month too. Meanwhile, thanks for looking in, comments are always welcome.

A great looking line up Duke!

Are those Fujimi kits actually 1/72? I know they used to make there small scale armor in 1/76

Wow Mark even though I know nothing about armor that Looks impressive. Good Job!

How about'em choppers? Looking Forward to seeing those ready.

Cheers

Alex

Mark, those are some fantastic looking vehicles. One Question though, What nationality are those small LAVs and some of the others? I know the first couple are American, but the others are puzzleing to me. Very impressive thou, my friend, I love them all.

Thanks Dave! I appreciate the compliments. Yes, these Fujimi kits are all in 1/72 scale. Way back in the '70's they did 1/76 scale, but then realized in the '80's that 1/72 scale was more prevalent. Now all their small scale vehicles are done in 1/72 scale; these you see here are all new tools in the 2010's

Thanks Alex! I do hope to start getting more choppers done soon. The German Huey is almost ready for decals. Stay tuned.

Thanks Dave Wahl! I also appreciate your compliments and am always thrilled to see your replies. Besides the two American vehicles at the top; all the rest of the models represent Japanese Ground Self Defense Force vehicles. Everything from the half-ton trucks to the self propelled artillery at the bottom is modern Japanese equipment.

Thanks again guys! I appreciate all these compliments and comments; they really keep me motivated to continue on.

Thanks Mike! Yeah, I should really be able to make progress now. Stay tuned, there's a lot more coming.

Thanks Bob! I gotta stay busy or I'll go crazy... at least crazier than I am already! :gogo

Just trying to soldier on..... :soldier :soldier :soldier

Excellent Job Mark, amazing line up. I wonder if one of These (or more) wouldn't fit into the insides of a Mil Mi-26 Halo. That could be a fun idea!

Cheers

Alex

Great job Mark, and the output is impressive as always!

I love those JASDF LAV's. might have to pick one of them up for myself someday!

Thanks Alex! I do have an Mi-26 Halo on the ceiling right now. I can honestly say that the three 1/2-ton trucks and the two LAV's would definitely fit inside the Halo. The AA guns might be a bit tall to fit inside, but the artillery would be too big.

Thanks Sharkman! I too have always wanted those LAV's ever since I saw the 1/35th scale ones. Thankfully, Fujimi brought them out in my scale!
