Artist acrylics for dry brushing?

The Zod

Has anyone used artist acrylic paints for dry brushing? I will be home from the road tomorrow. I need some good paints for dry brushing. I am being my usual cheap self. I have a couple models stalled. Or am I better off using oil paints?

Hi Zod,
personally I dry brush with oils due to their soft texture and ability to dry brush with subtle effects with virtually no paint on the brush. Acrylics dry very fast so you will need a retardant to get the same slow drying time and 'mix ability'.

Thanks for the replies Christian and Ian. I recon I am off to the only hobby store in my area tomorrow.

Now that you mention hobby shop , Abteilung oil paints comes to mind.

You might be so lucky :)

I was afraid of that . Great stuff for pin washes but I'm sure it would be good for other things as well.

I think the Humbrols would be good and also cheaper
