Source for WWI Armor decals...

Hey all...

Was digging through my armor kits to find some spare parts to add to the Trench Walker and realized my Meng MK. IV kit only has German markings featured...not sure why- there's no indication on the box that it's a special German version, but there you have it. Any ideas on where to grab something aftermarket?

I'm hoping to find some with the white and red striped markings on the sponson as well but I'm lucking out...I've just never had much success painting white...

The easiest way I have found to paint white is to use Tamiya flat white. You end up with a very bright flt white. Then either overspray with gloss white in mist coats or with future or gloss coat. Mask and then where the red will be spray a mist of light grey Then flat red followed by gloss or gloss red. The flat white gives a solid base. The misted light grey prevents the red from turning pink from the white bleeding through. Easy peasy

Or buy some white decal paper and print a red band on it. Then cut the decal to size and you have the red/white you are looking for.

When I built my MAK, I painted the stripe color first, then masked the line with a strip of Tamiya tape and painted the rest of the colors over the tape. Very crisp lines and very easy to do.

I've built 4 1/35 scale WW1 British tanks in British markings. Whenever I need to red and white strips (introduced AFTER Germans captured and used some British tanks) I paint them by hand as I find getting them to lay down over all the rivets and ridges nearly impossible.
