It includes markings for three vehicles of s.Pz.Abt 503:
"114" from 1 Kompanie in Normandy, Jul/Aug 1944 (my subject choice)
"332" from 3 Kompanie in Eastern France, Aug 1944
"314" (Annalise)from 3 Kompanie in Hungary, Jan 1945 (the battalion wasrenamed s.Pz.Abt Feldherrnhalle at the end of Dec 1944

and a fourth vehicle of s.Pz.Kp (Funklenk) 316:
"12" in Normandy, Jun 1944

"114" under cover along Le Chateau in Canteloup a few days before the opening of Operation Goodwood. On 18 July the Tiger II saw its first combat when 1/s.Pz.Abt 503 engaged elements of the Guards Armoured Division.

Squeezed in little bits of building time this week. As per the norm, it starts with the running gear.

Drives & idlers.

Swing arms.

There is some articulation possible with the loose fit of the tab and slot used to position the swing arms.

For more movement, the tab can be cut off the arms. Check your references to keep the arms within their range of movement.

Slow progress this week adding tools, cables and PE. A couple of items that need correction on the kit before I get to much further.

The LH fuel vents need to removed fron the aft hull. IIRC, these vents were added during Sep/Oct production.

On the RH side of the turret there is a sight block molded on that was not on the early vehicles. On the LH front of the turret, the outboard hole for the telescopic sight needs to be filled.

The instructions erroneously calls out the turret as H17. That is actually the plug not the turret.

Took some time to build up the tracks. After gluing the links together and they had set-up, they were primed and painted a dark brown.

Next, they were given an overall dry brush with a dark grey. The outer edges were given a medium grey dry brush.

This was followed with washes made from a couple of brown shades of chalk pastels to give them a suitably dusty look. After the washes had dried the colours were blended with a stiff brush.

The final step was to burnish the cleats with an 8B pencil and cotton swabs to give them a metallic sheen. Highlights were added using a silver artist's coloured pencil.
