Meng World War Toons King Tiger

Iron Mike

Master At Arms And Resident Curmudgeon
OK, I wasn't planning to build anything for this campaign since I've built four King Tigers in the past and have too many other subjects I want to get to, but these kits grabbed my attention. The fine folks at Meng have brought the tanks from the video game to kit form, their funny shapes and detail made me want one!

The kit is simple, but has a lot of detail and the fit is fantastic! I found that my Tamiya file works better than the sanding stick for removing the sprue nubs, as the plastic is soft and fuzzes up when sanded. The only flaws I found on my kit were a few dimples on the turret (of course!) A few dabs of Tamiya putty will resolve those.

Here's where we are after just a few hours of fun.

The tracks are simple, but detailed and Meng glued them together right out of the box!

This is a hoot, especially the first few minutes.

The tail end gets tedious. Thanks for dropping by to share my silliness!

Thanks, guys! Yes, this is a S&G build, just for fun. I kinda liked the look of the KT in grey, very sinister, but couldn't bring myself to do it. I mixed up a blend of Tamiya Deck Tan and Tamiya Dark Yellow and let it fly.

The tracks were primer with Tamiya rattle can gray and then shot with Tamiya Flat Brown.

Going to let these dry a bit, then see what camo turns up. Stay tuned, thanks for coming by!

Continuing with the paint, Tamiya Red Brown.

Running out of day, we'll let this dry and start the filters and the balance of the assembly. More fun than one guy ought to have!!!

The turret has a Panther like extra bend in it, but it's the chassis being so short that makes me laugh. Thanks for the responses. I'm having a hard time painting lines from all the chuckling I'm doing.

Do you have the Colonel Bogey march playing in the background?

Speaking of Colonel Bogey march, here is a neat quick one. . .

It put me in mind of this! Only in German!! Thought maybe you'ld load the airbrush, and giggle the squiggles!! (y) Sehr Kuhl!

Ha! You guys found some good ones! :good: This hasn't been a stellar week for me, I had a mishap at work that has me moving slower than usual, but I got to the bench this morning for a bit. The running gear was all painted, I just needed to dry brush the tracks with Humbrol 27006 and install them. Here's where we are.

Moving forward, I brushed a random coat of The Filter tan for tritonal camo over the surfaces to add some more color to the yellow and tone down the contrast to the camo stripes.

I'll let this dry while I go mow the lawn and see where I need to add more color for shadows and such. More to come, thanks for coming by!

Pretty cool Mike . It looks like it could use a helmet and a head just peering out of the hatch .

Cheers, Christian B)

Thanks, Chris! No figure comes with this one, so it would have to be one I whipped up. Not on this build, maybe the next. :drinks
