Thanks paddy. I can't sculpt figures. Been searching for a WWI era civilian in 1/16 scale. So far no luck.

It was my 5th attempt...haha. The pics show what I'm trying to model. This set held tools that are in a canvas, or leather? Roll. It's silly to fuss over it but it is right there in your face with the hatch open.

The scene in my minds eye for this Renualt FT is broke down and abandoned, with a curious civilian checking it out.
 
Are you quite sure that isn't the backrest strap that keeps the driver from falling over backwards when the blistering acceleration of this vehicle manifests itself in combat?

Civilian Invalid WW2 1/16 scale 3D printed resin model kit 1604 | eBay

Use a side cutter to detach the support structure from the model. (use a hairdryer to heat up the part gently to prevent part from breaking!). Highly detailed 3D printed model kit in 1:16 scale. In case of the resin being still soft and sticky, lay the part into the sunlight for a few hours.

I know. Some of the Alpine figures are close to a hundred bucks.

The backrest is in the photoetch provided. Good thing too, cause at a top speed of around 5 mph whiplash is a danger when you dump the clutch!
 
Working on the interior. Scratchbuilt the various tool brackets and

lever for the throttle set etc.
I also added some texture to the hull plating. At this scale I felt it needed some.
BTW, the gear shift and track control levers may look crooked, but that's the way they're supposed to be. I guess it was so tight in there they had to be that way.

I know you are going by some photos or instructions, and I get why the handles are offset, but looking at the foot peddles, it seems like the offset should be to the other side. Asking myself the FFF (Form Fit and Function) there are two peddles that are centered. It seems the offset should be to allow reaching the peddle that is to the far side. If you were to draw a straight line to the small peddle on the far left the handle offset would mean that you would have to bend your leg weird. Just my 2 cents figuring out the "why".

Hmmm...you could be right. I'll swap em around.

Ok, had to double check. The levers are in right. It is a crazy looking setup, with the right lever appearing to be right inline with the pedal.

What you are building is really looking good! Leave it to 1918 French to come up with such a weird little tank.

There's a video clip of R Lee Ermy getting a crash course on driving one. These were crank start tanks. When he's ready to go he says to the guy, "Wind me up" 🤣
