1941 Willys

Sherman 18

Master at Arms
The start of my 1941 Willys Gasser. Kit is from Revell and the engine and transmission are from the Revell Fairlane kit. Both kits are very very good on their own. I will recommend both for any body wanting to build '60s drag cars. THe only reseason I'm using the drive train from the Fairlane is because of personaly I love Ford engines.

one thing to note on the last release of this Fairlane is that Ford never delivered the car as shown on the box with a big block.

added nuts and bolts to the floor and chassis. Scratch built a steering box and brake pedal.

filled the hole in the hood, since this one will not have a supercharger.

Look my bench is staying pretty clean.

All right, wheely things (y) .

Have you ever used any of the aftermarket engine detail pieces that are available? And also what would be the chances of sharing some of the work you are doing on those subs and the M-50 you got going in the back ground :idonno .

P.S. As long as you don't have to move something to see your workbench, it's not to messy :p

The FE 427 was one of the best engines Ford ever built, a great choice to power the Willys. That is a very good kit, everything fits and has the right proportions. Model Car Garage makes a PE grille for the Willys that really sets it off. Good luck with your build and keep us posted! B)

Got some priming done and also was able to coat the chassis in flat black last night. I ran out of Floquil gray primer. So I used Floquil railroad colors foundation. It turned out ok made painting the chassis easier. I used Humbrol flat black. Found the hood needed more work and I forgot to fill some things on the body. Chassis detail painting and just plain detailing will have to wait awhile, I over reduced the black and it is still really tacky. Thanks for the comments guys!

Not a lot done, I had a major problem with painting the floor boards last night - still not sure what happened, so I will be stripping it today. While Grace painted her P-51, I did get a good start on scratching a crossram intake manifold. Will have to see how this goes never done a intake before.

yep bench is starting to get more things left on it :woohoo:

That looks like it is going to be a nice intake manifold. And it looks like you still got space for about 9 or 10 other kits on that work bench. You haven't even started to stack the half built kits on top of each other yet

the floor after my horror with Tamiya paint. It did not want to "lay down" worked fine the kit I was painting at the time. I washed it and sanded the floor alittle before usung Humbrol paint. I was thinking of painting the transmission tunnel a different color, anyone think of that idea - I 've got until morning to think it over.
