30 March Surgeon's meeting post:
Our merry band of model miscreants gathered for a small show n' tell and then a final pep talk before our Saturday, April 1st. (NoFoolin'!) contest.
If memory serves, 23 of our Members were in attendance. Prominently missing were Curt Young, Jack & Terry, Dave Bettis, Kevin Nelson and Don Barry. It was good to see Webb, Nate (the OTHER white Nate) McCoy and Mike Rasmussen!
Mark Johnson joined the club last night. Mark is good guy and makes a fine "Shiny" (model car). Who is that masked man?!
The guys asked after Don. I felt I couldn't share deeply personal details I know. I encourage anyone who calls Don "Friend" to have the courage call him up, stop by, or email.
How about some models?!
Ronnie Schultz is rehabbing '60's 1/24 Stock Cars. I appreciate the amount of work it takes to disassemble, strip and rebuild an ancient model.
Ron does a lot of this sort of thing. Some of there look like them ol' JoHan kits! Check out what those sell for and you can see why Ronnie does what he does! He seemed delighted with his resin squirrels. I threw in some Holley carbs, bottles, a feisty frog & Weiand racing air cleaners for good measure.
Ray's grandson Colton built himself a Tamiya 1/35 Easy 8 Sherman. I donated a started Tamya 1/35 Jagdpanther to Colton's model tank stable along with a baloney story about the emotional trauma I endured when my step-son picked out a (sob, sniff) TANK model! (booo-hooo-hooo huhu!) Now my healing process can begin.
Grampa Ray built a Dragon 1/35 Stug IV ausf Frankenstein. Composed of wayward sprues of Wehrmacht armor parts, It came out pretty nice!
Ray is recovering well from his metastatic bone cancer.
Trennis Stevens has a Hasegawa 1/72 original tool F-100D Super Sabre well on it's way. In an act of Stevens family solidarity, his Dad is making a pair of Hobbyboss 1/72 F-86 Sabres. They look like F-models to me. President Stevens says the kit decals work really well. His use of vintage Microscale decals wint a lil' less well. It is odd to see a Nathan Stevens airplane model with no prop.
Next up! Jose'!
